A Simulator Engineered Like a Cinema
A retail simulator kit gives you a net, a mat, and a launch monitor. A professionally designed simulator room gives you an environment — one where ball flight reads true, impact noise never reaches the rest of the house, the image fills your field of view, and the room itself is beautiful enough to anchor an evening of entertaining.
The difference is engineering. Launch monitor placement is calculated from room geometry so every club reads accurately, right- or left-handed. Projection throw and screen tension are specified together so the image is bright, seamless, and impact-rated. Acoustic assemblies absorb the crack of a driver at 110 mph clubhead speed without transmitting it through the framing.
And because we design private cinemas, every simulator room we build is conceived as a dual-purpose space: the same screen, projector, and audio system deliver a reference-grade theater experience when the clubs go back in the bag.
Design Approaches
Three Ways to Bring the Course Home
Every simulator we design falls into one of three categories — each engineered to the same standard, tailored to your architecture and how your family plays.
Dedicated Practice Bays
Purpose-built simulator rooms optimized for serious game improvement — premium launch monitors, swing camera analysis, putting surfaces, and lighting designed for accurate ball tracking. The room does one thing exceptionally well.
Simulator & Cinema Suites
Our signature design: a room that converts from championship golf to reference cinema with a single Savant command. Impact screen, 4K laser projection, immersive audio, and acoustic treatment serve both experiences without compromise.
Entertainment & Lounge Integration
Simulator bays designed as social spaces — integrated bar, lounge seating, display walls for live sports, and whole-home audio. Guests watch from the lounge while you play the back nine at Augusta.
Our Simulator Design Process
Every project follows the same rigorous methodology we apply to private cinemas — professional documentation your architect and builder can build from.
Space & Swing Assessment
We measure your room, model swing clearances for every player in the household, assess structural attachment points, electrical capacity, and HVAC — and establish how the room will be used beyond golf.
System & Acoustic Engineering
Launch monitor selection and placement, projection throw calculations, screen and enclosure specification, acoustic isolation design, and lighting plans — documented to architectural standards.
Integration & Calibration
Precision installation of the enclosure, screen, projection, audio, and control infrastructure — followed by launch monitor calibration, projector alignment, and software configuration on-site.
Commissioning & Concierge Enrollment
Full system commissioning with your family, orientation on simulator software and room scenes, and enrollment in our Concierge Service program for ongoing calibration and support.

Charlotte Expertise
Designed for Charlotte Homes and How They Are Built
Charlotte is a golf city. Between Quail Hollow, the Charlotte Country Club, and dozens of private clubs across the region, our clients play year-round — and increasingly, they want to practice at home. The most common simulator locations we design are basement levels in Myers Park and Eastover, bonus rooms over garages in Ballantyne and SouthPark, and detached outbuildings on Lake Norman properties.
Each presents distinct engineering challenges. Bonus rooms require impact-noise isolation so a driver strike at 6 a.m. does not wake the house. Basements need moisture-managed acoustic assemblies. Outbuildings need dedicated HVAC, network infrastructure, and security integration with the main residence. For new construction, we coordinate with your builder during framing to reserve ceiling height, blocking, conduit, and dedicated circuits — the decisions that are inexpensive on paper and costly after drywall.

Performance Bay
$45,000 – $80,000A dedicated simulator bay with a premium launch monitor, impact screen, 4K projection, quality hitting surfaces, and acoustic treatment. Ideal for dedicated practice in an existing bonus room or basement.
Signature Simulator Room
$80,000 – $150,000Full acoustic isolation, ceiling-mounted launch monitor, 4K laser projection, custom millwork and finishes, swing cameras, and Savant scene control. Our most popular configuration for Charlotte estates.
Multi-Purpose Entertainment Suite
$150,000 – $250,000+A room that converts between championship simulator and reference cinema — immersive audio, automated masking, bar and seating integration, and one-touch transformation through estate automation.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a golf simulator installation cost in Charlotte?
A professionally designed residential golf simulator in Charlotte typically ranges from $45,000 to $150,000+, depending on the launch monitor, projection system, acoustic treatment, and architectural finishes. Multi-purpose simulator rooms that double as private cinemas can exceed $250,000. Peters Audio Video provides a documented design proposal after an initial consultation.
How much space does a home golf simulator need?
A comfortable single-handed simulator bay requires roughly 12 feet of width, 16 feet of depth, and 9.5 to 10 feet of ceiling height. For both right- and left-handed play with premium sightlines, we recommend 15 feet of width, 18 to 20 feet of depth, and 10-foot ceilings. We assess your room and model swing clearances before specifying any equipment.
Which launch monitor is best for a luxury home golf simulator?
For permanent residential installations we typically specify ceiling-mounted photometric or radar launch monitors such as TrackMan iO, Foresight GCQuad/GCHawk, or Uneekor EYE XO2, chosen by room geometry, left/right-handed play, and the simulation software you prefer. Every system is calibrated on-site and integrated with the room's lighting and control system.
Can a golf simulator room double as a home theater?
Yes — this is one of our most requested designs. The same impact screen, 4K laser projector, immersive audio, and acoustic treatment that power the simulator deliver an exceptional cinema experience. With Savant automation, one command converts the room from fairway to film: lights dim, the projector switches sources, and the audio system reconfigures.
Does a golf simulator need acoustic treatment?
Absolutely. Ball impact against the screen produces a sharp, high-energy transient that carries through framing into adjacent rooms. We engineer impact-rated wall and ceiling assemblies, isolated framing where required, and broadband absorption so the room is quiet for the rest of the home — and sounds refined inside the bay itself.
Can a simulator be installed in an existing Charlotte home?
Yes. Many of our simulator projects are retrofits in basements, bonus rooms, garages, and outbuildings across Myers Park, SouthPark, Ballantyne, and Lake Norman. Retrofits require careful assessment of ceiling height, structural attachment points for the enclosure, electrical capacity, and HVAC — all covered in our initial site evaluation.
How long does a golf simulator installation take?
A complete design and installation typically takes 6 to 12 weeks from consultation through calibration, depending on room construction, acoustic scope, and equipment lead times. New construction projects are coordinated within the build schedule alongside your architect and builder.
