Founder & Principal Designer
Nicholas Peters
Technology should be invisible, reliable, and designed with the same care as the architecture it serves.
Nicholas Peters founded Peters Audio Video to bring design discipline to luxury home technology — planning, documenting and commissioning estate systems from Charlotte, North Carolina.

The Premise
A Builder’s
Point of View
Luxury residences are frequently delivered with extraordinary architecture and ordinary technology — systems specified late, installed reactively, and documented barely at all. Nicholas Peters built Peters Audio Video around the opposite premise: that home technology deserves the same foresight, drawings and accountability as the building itself.
Design and installation are treated as one accountable discipline — not two handoffs.
With roots in Charlotte’s luxury construction community, he brings a builder’s sensibility to technology design: what can be planned before framing should never be improvised after it. That means conversations about rack rooms, conduit, power and control happen while walls are still lines on a drawing.
How Projects Run
Four Commitments
Design Before Construction
Technology environments are planned while the architecture is still being drawn — not after drywall. Rooms, rack space, conduit routes and power are resolved on paper first.
Documentation as a Deliverable
Schematics, infrastructure plans and integration drawings are produced for every project, so the home can be serviced, expanded and handed down without guesswork.
Commissioning, Not Just Installation
Systems are tested, calibrated and tuned — audio, video and control — before handover. Nothing is signed off on assumption.
Stewardship Beyond Handover
The firm stays accountable for environments it designed and installed, with ongoing support, optimization and system evolution as the residence changes.

Collaboration
With Architects
& Builders
Nicholas works alongside architects, interior designers and custom home builders as a design partner rather than a subcontractor — coordinating technology with millwork, lighting layouts, sightlines and structural conditions.
That alignment extends to the firms in the Peters group, including Peters Custom Homes (opens in a new tab) and Emerald & Oak Design (opens in a new tab). Architect and builder partnerships and the full preferred partner network are described separately.
In estate technology design, details are not small.
They are everything.
Where the Work Happens
Charlotte First
Most projects are in the Charlotte metro. For larger luxury residences outside the region, the firm takes on select engagements nationwide — designed, installed and commissioned by its own team.
Common Questions
About Nicholas & the Firm
Who is Nicholas Peters?
Nicholas Peters is the founder and principal designer of Peters Audio Video, an estate technology design firm headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina. He leads technology design for luxury residences and works directly with architects, custom-home builders and interior designers.
Does Nicholas work on every project?
Yes. Nicholas is involved in each engagement from the initial consultation through design documentation, commissioning and ongoing support. The firm is intentionally selective, so the founder stays close to the work rather than delegating it.
Where does Peters Audio Video work?
Charlotte is the home market — most projects are in the Charlotte metro, including Myers Park, Eastover, SouthPark, Ballantyne, Foxcroft and Lake Norman. Select larger luxury residences outside the region are taken on case by case, from design through commissioning by the firm's own team.
Does the firm service systems installed by another integrator?
No. Peters Audio Video designs and installs its own systems and provides ongoing support for the environments it designed and installed. It does not take over or service another installer's work.
How does a project begin?
With a design consultation. The firm reviews plans or the existing residence, discusses how the home is meant to be lived in, and produces a documented scope before any equipment is specified or installed.
Start With the Design
Every engagement begins with a conversation about the residence and how it is meant to be lived in. Nicholas leads that conversation personally.
