Landscape Lighting in Charlotte, NC
Luxury landscape and architectural lighting for Charlotte homes — designed as part of the estate's control system, so the exterior follows sunset, joins your scenes and responds to security events.
Request System DesignExterior Lighting Designed With the Home, Not Added After
Most landscape lighting is installed as a separate system on its own timer. We design it as a layer of the home's lighting control — planned alongside interior lighting, shading, outdoor audio and video and security.
The result is an exterior that behaves intelligently: lighting rises at dusk on an astronomic schedule, the terrace and pool join an "Entertain" scene with music, paths brighten when a camera sees movement, and everything settles to a quiet late-night level without anyone touching a switch. Control runs through Savant or Lutron, from keypads, the app or voice.
The Layers of a Landscape Lighting Plan
Architectural Façade
Grazing and wash lighting that reveals stone, brick, columns and rooflines without glare into windows or neighboring properties.
Trees & Plantings
Up-lighting and moonlighting for mature oaks and specimen plantings, aimed and shielded so the canopy reads naturally from the house and the street.
Paths, Steps & Drives
Low, shielded light for safe movement — step lights, path fixtures and drive markers placed for visibility rather than runway rows.
Pools, Water & Terraces
Underwater, fountain and terrace lighting balanced with outdoor living spaces so the pool and entertaining areas are lit as one composition.
How a Landscape Lighting Project Runs
- 1. Dusk site walk. We review the property after dark with you to agree what should be seen, from where, and what should stay dark.
- 2. Lighting and control plan. A documented plan of fixture locations, beam and color choices, wire and conduit routes, and how each zone is scheduled and controlled.
- 3. Coordination. We work with your builder, landscape architect and pool contractor so sleeves and conduit go in before hardscape and planting.
- 4. Installation and night aiming. Fixtures are installed, then aimed and adjusted at night — the step that separates designed lighting from installed fixtures.
- 5. Scenes and handover. Schedules and scenes are programmed into the control system and walked through with your family, with ongoing support through Concierge.
Landscape Lighting for Charlotte Properties
Charlotte's mature tree canopy, brick and stone architecture and long summer evenings outdoors shape how we light a property. Established lots in Myers Park and Eastover often call for restrained façade and canopy lighting; newer homes in Ballantyne and SouthPark are best planned during construction; waterfront homes on Lake Norman need lighting that works from the water and the dock without glare.

Landscape Lighting Questions
What does landscape lighting design include?
A landscape lighting design covers the site survey, a lighting plan that sets which façade elements, trees, paths, steps and water features are lit and how, fixture and lamp specification, transformer or driver sizing and wire runs, and the control plan — schedules, astronomic timing and scenes tied to the rest of the home.
Can landscape lighting be controlled from a Savant or Lutron system?
Yes. We bring exterior lighting zones onto the same Savant or Lutron control as the interior, so the exterior can follow sunset and sunrise, join an 'Arrive Home' or 'Entertain' scene, brighten when security cameras detect motion, and switch off at a set hour — from keypads, the app or voice.
How much does landscape lighting cost in Charlotte?
Cost depends on property size, the number of lit features, fixture quality, how much trenching and conduit is needed, and the level of control integration. We do not quote from a fixture count — after a site walk at dusk we issue a documented design and proposal so the scope and investment are clear before work begins.
Is it better to plan landscape lighting during construction?
Yes. During new construction or major landscaping, conduit, sleeves under hardscape, junction locations and control wiring can be placed before pavers, pools and plantings go in. Retrofits are possible but cost more and can limit fixture placement.
Does landscape lighting improve security?
Well-designed exterior lighting removes deep shadows at entries, paths and the perimeter without floodlit glare. Integrated with cameras and the security system, lighting zones can respond to events — which helps both deterrence and camera image quality at night.
Do you light outdoor living areas as well as the landscape?
Yes. Terraces, outdoor kitchens, pool surrounds and covered porches are designed together with the landscape layers and with outdoor audio and video, so the whole exterior works as one scene-controlled environment.
